Massage Therapy & Bodywork in Portland, OR
Your body needs relief. Your spirit needs somewhere to set down what you've been carrying. Here, there is room for both.
What Brings You to the Table?
Sometimes it's straightforward: your neck hurts. Your shoulders won't let go. The same tension keeps returning, or your body simply doesn't feel as comfortable to live in as you need it to.
There's been too much to hold for too long. Stress, responsibility, the weight of the world, it can all settle into your muscles and joints. Rest doesn't seem to reach all the way in. Your system feels tired, wired, depleted or some impossible combination of all three.
Your body is often where you first notice that something in your life is asking for attention. You may feel unsettled, disconnected from yourself, or simply aware that you want to feel more grounded in your own skin.
You don't need a complicated reason to come for bodywork. Sometimes you just want less pain, a deeper breath, a little more room inside yourself and to leave the massage table feeling better than when you arrived.
Bodywork That Responds to You
No two bodies are the same, and neither are two bodywork sessions.
I bring extensive hands-on experience, a broad range of therapeutic techniques, and intuitive listening to the work we do together. Rather than following a predetermined routine, I pay attention to what your body is presenting that day and shape the session with you.
That can mean focused therapeutic work where your body is asking for attention, while also slowing things down enough for your whole system to settle. My approach attends to both the physical body and the subtle energies that pervade it, creating space for shifts in how you feel and experience yourself.
You Don't Need to Know What Kind of Bodywork You Need
You don't have to choose a specific technique before you book. Every session begins by orienting to what is bringing you in, how you're feeling that day, and what you would like from our time together.
You may already know that you want focused work on a particular area, or are interested in something specific such as craniosacral therapy or abdominal massage. You may also have no idea what would be most helpful. Both are welcome.
I bring the tools and experience; you bring what is present for you. Together, we shape the session. I may draw from different therapeutic techniques as the work unfolds, always within my scope of practice and with your preferences, comfort, and consent guiding how we proceed.
Over decades of practice, I have gathered a broad range of massage, bodywork, and energetic techniques that I can draw from and combine as part of an integrated session.
Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork
My sessions may draw from Swedish massage, myofascial and trigger point work, stretching and positional release, acupressure, movement-based techniques, cupping, warming stones, and other hands-on approaches. Pressure, pace, and technique are adapted to what you need and how your body responds.
Craniosacral
Therapy
Craniosacral Therapy is a subtle yet deeply attentive form of bodywork that works with the body's structural rhythms, connective tissues, and the structures surrounding the central nervous system. I may draw from this work as part of an integrated session, or you can request a greater focus on Craniosacral Therapy.
Chi Nei Tsang &
Abdominal Massage
Chi Nei Tsang is a Taoist approach to abdominal bodywork that brings detailed attention to the visceral landscape of the body. The work may include the fascia and tissues surrounding the organs, the abdomen and intestines, and patterns of tension and movement held through this central region of the body.
I may incorporate abdominal work as part of an integrated session, or you can request a greater focus on Chi Nei Tsang.
Energy
Work
Energy work is a distinct part of my practice and may be incorporated into bodywork when desired and appropriate. My approach attends to subtle patterns of energy alongside the physical body, allowing the session to move between physical and energetic dimensions without requiring you to experience or understand them in any particular way.
Many Tools. One Integrated Approach.
Prenatal & Postpartum Bodywork
Pregnancy and postpartum bring enormous change to the body. As your body adapts, the places asking for attention can change too—from aching hips and low back tension to tired legs, altered sleep patterns, physical strain, and the need to be comfortably supported for a while.
The prenatal and postpartum year is one of my specialties, with bodywork that's uniquely suited for the changing landscape of your body and spirit during pregnancy and the months following birth. Wherever you are in your process, positioning, pacing, and technique are shaped around your comfort and what your body needs that day.
A Comfortable Place to Land
I offer 60- and 90-minute Bodywork / Massage Therapy sessions, with most clients choosing 90 minutes for more spaciousness, allowing the work to follow your body's natural rhythms and unfold in its own time.
My studio is located in central inner Southeast Portland, with easy access from I-5, Highway 99, downtown, the west side, and surrounding neighborhoods. The studio is on the second floor with elevator access, and free street parking is available nearby.
If it's your first session, you'll complete an intake form and we'll take time to go over it together before we begin. I can accommodate a range of positioning and mobility needs, with specialized bolstering available for pregnancy, post-surgical comfort, and other physical needs.
For massage, you undress only to your comfort level, with professional draping used throughout the session. The studio and massage products are fragrance-free, and I use a cruelty-free, vegan, hypoallergenic lotion. Masking is available by request.
Appointments can be scheduled online. If you have questions about scheduling, accessibility, positioning, or whether my studio and table setup can accommodate your particular needs, you're welcome to contact me before booking.
Begin With What You Need
You came here because something isn't working. Maybe your body hurts, you've been carrying too much for too long, you're moving through a time of change, or you're feeling the need to reconnect with yourself. At the end of the day, you simply want to feel better.
You don't have to know exactly what kind of bodywork you need before you arrive. You can begin with what you know: how you feel, what you need, and what you hope might be different when you leave.
Bring that. I'll meet you there.
